Manhattan Council Member Shaun Abreu is pushing a new bill that would ban tattoo discrimination by employers and landlords in New York City.
The bill, which is being co-sponsored by Council Members Natasha Williams, Justin Brannan and Kevin Riley, would make it illegal for New Yorkers with tattoos to be discriminated against, or have to hide their ink at work.
As of right now, the bill leaves it up to the city human rights commission to discuss exceptions, but they must be based on consideration of public policy.
