The food at New York City jails is about to get healthier.
The New York City Department of Correction confirmed its proposal to get rid of junk food in its jails. A spokesperson for the New York City Department of Correction said in a statement, "The Department of Correction is continuously looking at appropriate steps to improve the food environment. The pending commissary change is part of the city's broader effort to improve the healthfulness of food offered by city agencies."
The change is still in the planning phase.
