Police are continuing their search for a man they say fired a gun inside the Jay Street-MetroTech Station around noon Monday. According to police, a fight broke out between two groups ending when one man took out a gun and fired a single shot.

For hours, the subway entrance on Jay and Willoughby streets was closed off as police investigated the scene.
Residents told News 12 that the incident is the reason they are afraid to take the subway.

"Everyday, you hear about either a shooting, fighting, people being pushed off the station down into the rails," said Cheryl Bonds.

The entrance to the station was reopened around three Monday afternoon.
