Police have identified a 28-year-old Yonkers man as the victim of a deadly shooting in the Bronx.
The NYPD says Marji Daoud was shot in the head on University Avenue near Eames Place on Monday just before 5 p.m.
Witnesses say they heard multiple gunshots and saw Daoud on the ground underneath a red jeep in front of the UNK Candy and Grocery. Police sources say the victim did not appear to be the intended target and had just walked back from his car that was parked down the block when he was shot. The two gunmen surveyed the area and walked by a group that was standing outside of the store before they fired shots from down the block, according to police sources.
Police are looking to question a group who was standing nearby the store at the time of the shooting.
Police sources say Daoud did not have a criminal record. Police say a 33-year-old woman was also shot in the hip, she was transferred to the hospital by private means and is expected to recover.
