Police are searching for a suspected rapist in the Coney Island area.

Sources tell News 12 the man followed the 20-year-old victim into the elevator of her apartment building at the Luna Park Houses. They say that once the elevator stopped, the suspect brandished a gun, pulled the victim into a stairwell and sexually assaulted her. The suspect also allegedly took the woman's cash and keys.

Less than an hour later, sources say the suspect entered another building in the complex, got into the elevator and robbed a woman in her 40s.

Police describe the suspect as about 20 years old with black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion.
