Protesters in Brooklyn accused City Councilman Rafael Espinal Tuesday of selling out his constituents to big development interests.
Chants of "Espinal sold us out" were heard outside a bar where the councilman celebrated his birthday and held a fundraiser.
Protesters are angry after Espinal voted for Mayor Bill de Blasio's plan to rezone part of East New York. They say they believe the plan will let in developers and push out low-income families.
Espinal told News 12 the plan he voted for will create at least 3,000 affordable housing units and help revamp East New York for residents who live there.
