Rapper-turned-politician Shyne is returning to Brooklyn to mark 25 years since the release of his debut album with a headlining show at Kings Theatre on May 2.

The concert will be the first time Shyne has ever headlined his own show.

“Me performing at Kings Theater represents my journey and transformation … how I went from a child of this community crying out for help to ultimately becoming who I am today,” he said.

Shyne, whose real name is Moses Barrow, rose to fame in the late 1990s alongside some of hip-hop’s biggest stars. His career was derailed after he was convicted in connection with a nightclub shooting, for which he served nearly 10 years in prison.

After being deported to his native Belize, Barrow entered politics and served as the leader of the opposition in the House of Representatives, and the leader of the Belize United Democratic Party.

Shyne opens up about his tumultuous life journey in a 2024 tell-all documentary.

“My life has been challenging. My life has been painful. But my life has been incredible,” he told News 12.

Shyne said fans attending the May 2 concert can expect “an electric performance” filled with the passion and emotion that have defined his career.

He also said he is currently working on a new album.
