Indoor dining in New York City is set to start up again on Friday and restaurant owners are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
Bay Ridge resident Louis Santiago says he is the only one in his family yet to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, even though he lives right down the street from the Brooklyn Army Terminal.
"I mean it's a mass vaccination site -- and they say, 'We have all these huge sites and everything,' and then the people who are here can't get it,” said Santiago.
Restaurant workers became eligible on Feb. 2.
Santiago says he has spent day and night struggling to find an open appointment. He says almost all of his co-workers are experiencing the same issue.
Citi Field is set to open as a mass vaccination hub Wednesday. Most of the stadium’s reservations are for TLC licensed drivers and food service workers.
The mayor’s office says Mayor Bill De Blasio has pressed pharmaceutical companies to mass produce the vaccine to help this issue.
