Sunday was the last day city beaches and outdoor pools were open for swimming. Starting Monday, lifeguards will no longer be on duty.

The NYC Parks Department warned that it isn't safe to swim without a lifeguard. According to the department’s records, there were five drowning incidents at city beaches this summer. Only one of them occurred while lifeguards were on duty.

Bronx swimmers can still use multiple recreation centers with indoor pools open year-round.

Enforcement patrol officers will be patrolling the beaches daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. until mid-October.
