Some tenants of a Brooklyn apartment complex are protesting a process that would allow the buildings to become privatized.
The Luna Park Housing Board of Directors is considering privatization. Board members say the main reason is to repair the buildings. They add the cost of the repairs would fall on tenants. The board feels it would be best if the complex left the city?s affordable housing program and became privatized. Board members want to spend $100,000 on a feasibility study to determine if the complex would be eligible to become privatized.
Some Luna Park tenants say they would prefer if the complex stayed affordable. However, many tenants still have questions about privatization. Board members say the feasibility study would answer questions and assess the cost and impact of leaving the affordable housing program.
