State AG Tong calls on Insurance Department to take more time before allowing rate hikes
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong is calling on the state Insurance Department to take more time next year when deciding on whether to allow companies to raise rates.
The Insurance Department announced Friday its allowing increases of 12.9% for individual plans and 7.9% for small group policies.
Tong says while the final hikes "are far less" than the companies requested, he's calling on the department to lengthen the hearing process to make it more thorough.
