A teen wanted in the death of a 15-year-old Bensonhurst teen is back in Brooklyn and under arrest - after a year on the run.
Foridun Maulonou was killed nearly a year ago and police sources tell News 12 the suspect in his death wasn’t able to be extradited back to the United States until now.
They say he was 17 when he fled to Panama.
Panama did not allow the suspect to be extradited until he was 18 years old, and now Leopoldo Nash is back in Brooklyn facing a murder charge.
Video shows the moment that Nash was led by law enforcement to a police car Friday morning at Brooklyn’s 62nd Precinct.
The NYPD says that Nash fled to Panama right after the fatal shooting on July 20, 2023. Surveillance video shows a shooter open fire on a crowded sidewalk. Maulonou was shot in the back off-camera.
The 15-year-old died in the shooting incident, and his family says they don’t think he knew his attacker.
Nash faces other charges besides murder, including attempted murder, gang assault and criminal possession of a firearm.
