The Staten Island woman accused of running a red light in Park Slope and fatally striking two children in the crosswalk returned to court Wednesday as prosecutors disclosed important evidence to her lawyer.
Dorothy Bruns, 44, faces charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and more in connection to the deadly March collision.
Her lawyer told News 12 that Bruns is heartbroken about the children. She is a mother of four herself.
The impact killed 4-year-old Abigail Blumenstein and 1-year-old Joshua Lew and left three people injured.
According to prosecutors, Bruns had a seizure, which led to the crash. But they say she had been told after a previous accident that she should no longer drive.
Bruns pleaded not guilty and says she does not remember the Park Slope crash.
She is being held in protective custody as she receives medical attention for spinal injuries that followed the crash.
