A quiet Saturday night for an East Flatbush family turned violent when burglars tried to break in with a gun.
Police say 17-year-old Lydd Felton was arrested in connection with the crime. He faces a number of charges including attempted robbery, attempted burglary, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Police say they're also searching for two more suspects wanted in connection with the crime.
A young woman from the family who didn't want her identity revealed told News 12 how the night unfolded.
"My brother was with this girl he met from Facebook," she said. "The girl kept asking him to come with her to the store and he didn't want to go, and she just kept asking him to go to the store."
When he finally agreed and walked downstairs at around 11:30 p.m., he was greeted outside the Nostrand Avenue apartment by two burglars, one of whom had a gun, the young woman said.
A scuffle ensued and a gun went off, hitting one of the suspects, the woman said. That's when the rest of the family got involved.
"Then my father came down, he was fighting the boy who had the gun and so they was trying to get it from him but he would not let go and the other boy was just laying there on the floor," she said.
Police arrived and took the young man that was shot to Kings County Hospital and then arrested him.
The young woman believes their guest that evening may have been behind it all.
"I think this was a setup because right after she deleted her Facebook," she said.
