The Brownsville community came together yesterday afternoon for a tree lighting to honor a mother who gave her life to save young kids.
Mother of 12 Zurana Horton was fatally shot in October while shielding children from gunfire near P.S. 268. Councilman Jumaane Williams (D-Brooklyn) and several City Hall members surrounded Horton's mother Denise during the ceremony.
People also gathered in East New York last night to pay homage to Horton and draw attention to gun violence.
