Two men received life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole Tuesday for the 2003 murder of a college student. Troy Hendrix and Kayson Pearson were convicted of raping and murdering 19-year-old Hunter College student Ramona Moore. A judge handed them the maximum sentence as members of the victim?s family applauded. The two men were also given 25 years for the rape, kidnapping and sodomy of Moore and Shaniqua Boyd, another victim. Hendrix and Pearson spoke during their sentencing, sending condolences to the Moore family, but maintained their innocence. Both men were also arraigned and pleaded not guilty to charges of a courtroom attack on an attorney and court officer at the pair?s first trial in January.
