Volunteers are hard at work rebuilding a Coney Island home ravaged by Superstorm Sandy exactly two years ago.
Habitat for Humanity has been working since July on the home for Margurie Batts, a retired postal worker who will turn 81 years old this weekend. Even Mayor Bill de Blasio stopped by Wednesday to offer a helping hand.
Bratts says that she still remembers every detail from when the storm hit. She chose not to evacuate and watched as floodwaters rose to her second floor.
The home is expected to be complete by Thanksgiving, but Habitat for Humanity is still working on other homes damaged during Sandy. It says more volunteers are always needed.
