The first weekend of no service on the 2 and 3 subway lines is creating a major headaches for many Brooklyn residents.
The closure is part of a major effort by the MTA to repair parts of the subway system damaged during Superstorm Sandy.
Starting today, there will be no service on the 2 and 3 lines every weekend until next spring.
Those lines will now terminate in lower Manhattan.
Officials say as an alternative, riders can take the 4 or 5 trains which make all local stops in Brooklyn and have been extended to New Lots Avenue and Flatbush Avenue.
