Witnesses: Off-duty officer possibly involved with dispute and shooting

According to police, a 32-year-old man was shot in the right arm during a dispute on Avenue L shortly before 1 a.m. The shooter then fled the scene.

Witnesses who saw a dispute and shooting in Canarsie have told the NYPD that one of the people involved could have been an off-duty police officer.
According to police, a 32-year-old man was shot in the right arm during a dispute on Avenue L shortly before 1 a.m. The shooter then fled the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released
Witnesses told police they believed the shooter was an off-duty police officer. As a result, investigators say they identified the officer and took his weapons for comparison to a shell casing that was found at the scene.
The officer has now been placed on modified duty status pending the outcome of the investigation.
