Councilman Lincoln Restler is calling for the city to crack down on illegally parked cars in Downtown Brooklyn, some of them with government placards or phony ones.
A study put out by his office found 457 illegally parked cars on average daily in certain parks of Downtown Brooklyn, the majority of them with government placards or phony ones.
“Every single one of these cars has either a placard in it of a city worker where they park their personal vehicle in the middle of the street, or they put a fake placard in their car. It's hard. You know, it's hard to find parking. These are tough jobs, but you can't park illegally and there has to be accountability for everyone not to be one set of rules that applies to all of us, city workers, civilians, all the same,” said Restler.
News 12 was on Adams Street and saw traffic agents handing out tickets and towing cars.
Councilman Restler is calling on the City Council to pass legislation that would revoke some of the placards and prohibit the issuing of them.
