An MTA bus driver was assaulted in Sheepshead Bay last week, marking the latest in a string of attacks on transit workers citywide, according to the NYPD.

The NYPD says the incident happened last Monday aboard the B68 bus at the intersection of Coney Island Avenue and Avenue P.

Police say the driver got into a verbal dispute with a female passenger. They say that the passenger then struck the driver in the face several times with her purse before fleeing the scene.

Cops released surveillance images of the suspect they believe is responsible.

The assault comes amid growing concerns over transit worker safety.

Earlier this month, an MTA cleaner was attacked while on duty at the Myrtle-Wyckoff station in Brooklyn.

News 12 has reached out to the MTA for comment on the recent violence and any new measures being taken to protect workers. The MTA referred News 12 to the NYPD for further comment.

Anyone with information about the suspects in either incident is urged to contact the NYPD.
