A police chase over the weekend in the city of Newburgh ended in a water search for a firearm.
Several News 12 viewers reached out worried about the police presence Friday night at Downing Park on Carpenter Avenue, and one viewer sent in photos taken from the incident.
A city official anonymously told News 12 that the park’s pond was partially drained to find a gun that a suspect tossed in during a pursuit.
The pond was already scheduled to be completely drained Monday due to a nearby construction project.
News 12 reached out to police and the mayor for information but hasn’t heard back.
