A Bohemia man was arrested on accusations that he had sexual contact with two 13-year-old females earlier this year, Suffolk police say.
Police say Brendan Sullivan, 20, had sexual contact with the teens in March and August after using Snapchat to meet them.
Detective Sgt. Alexander Spencer from Suffolk's Computer Crimes Division says they first investigated Sullivan in May, when a parent filed a complaint for possible inappropriate behavior with a child. Sullivan was then arrested on charges related to child pornography.
After a follow-up investigation and another alleged victim coming forward, they found evidence of the two alleged rapes of underage girls, police say.
Police say Sullivan was arrested in a parking lot in Patchogue Thursday and was charged with two counts of second-degree rape and three accounts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities say he was also charged with first-degree criminal contempt for violating an order of protection that he received during the previous arrest for endangering the welfare of a child by providing a vape to one of the victims in the case.
Sullivan's attorney Pete Mayer says hid client has had no convictions, lives at home with his parents and has a job at a boat yard. During his arraignment, the judge ordered that Sullivan, who had been free while awaiting trial on the previous charges, be remanded without bail.
Mayer was left stunned.
"Yes, these are serious charges, but it's not murder," says Mayer.
Detectives painted a different picture, saying Sullivan had threatened one of his victims and believe there may be more victims out there.
Sullivan will be back in court Wednesday.
